How Natyakshethra Arts Began and now NATYA ARTS
In 2013, Guru Nisha founded Natyakshethra Arts at Foster City, CA to share the beauty of Indian classical dance with the next generation. Through classes, stage performances, and community events, our mission is two-fold: preserving this timeless classical tradition while encouraging students — both children and adults — to explore diverse regional and global dance forms.
What began as a small group of dedicated students has grown into a thriving community of young artists, proud families, and passionate teachers. Every class, every rehearsal, and every performance is guided by the same founding spirit: to honor the art form while nurturing the whole student.

Guru Nisha
Founder & Principal Instructor
My journey with Bharatanatyam began at the age of three in Chennai, training deeply in the traditional Tanjore style, and later earning an M.A. in Bharatanatyam. Over the years, I've had the honor of performing across Chennai, New Delhi, and the Bay Area — both alongside my gurus and as a solo artist. Every performance and every student I've guided has been part of a path I deeply cherish.

Senior Instructor
With a background spanning Bollywood choreography, world folk traditions, and classical yoga, Deepa brings infectious energy and deep expertise to every class. Her students are known for their expressive performances and joyful stage presence.
